MOTOR VEHICLE TIPS
- Park your vehicles in a safe place. Avoid parking in the street.
- Install a tracker, immobilizer & alarm system in your vehicle & remember to activate these.
- Lock your vehicle & close all the windows, whether at home or in a public place.
- All valuables such as handbags, cell phones, laptops, parcels and post are a temptation for any criminal. Place them out of sight.
- Be on the lookout for suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.
- Do not leave your house or spare keys and remotes in your vehicle.
- Do not store your residential address under “HOME” on your GPS device. It puts you at risk.
- Install smash & grab film on all vehicle windows, where possible
CRIME TIPS
- When having friends and family over to visit say all the goodbyes inside the house. There have been a few incidents reported of robberies that occurred while everyone is standing in the driveway saying goodbye.
- When going to sleep close ALL windows (including the bathroom / toilet window) and make sure that all alarms are activated. Keep all doors and security gates locked when you are at home or not, even in the day time!
- When somebody is pressing the intercom button at the gate DO NOT just open the gate before confirming who it is (especially residents of town house complexes)
- Install security lights in areas like carports, outside stairs, alleys & patios.
- Change your travelling routes going to and from work and home including times leaving and arriving at home and always be crime prevention conscious.
- Make sure that all your electronic equipment in your house is marked with your details and contact numbers in order to trace back to the owner when recovered!
